Well, we've been through a lot since the last post...quitting a job, living dirt poor, major promotion for Jared, and going through a fire - literally - and coming out unscathed. The only affect of the fires for us was poor air quality and lots of ash when we got home. The fires were less than 10 miles away from us in two directions. It was pretty scary for a while there. The southern half of our town was evacuated at 5:30 a.m. Monday morning. Thankfully we were not. We left town anyway, though, because the air quality was really affecting Judah (runny nose, watery eyes, trouble breathing). Tough life that we have, we escaped to Newport Beach to Jared's grandparent's house with my parents in tow. Jared's grandparent's live two blocks from the beach, so we were livin it up there for a couple days, until the smoke followed us there. Ash was raining down. So, we headed further north to Santa Barbara and spent a few days there until we got the "all clear" from friends who stayed behind in San Marcos, then we headed home almost 7 days later. Never thought our week would end up like that! For us, it ended up being a surprise vacation of sorts, but for a lot of people they didn't end up having a home to go home to. We are so thankful that for us it was only an inconvenience...if that. God is good!
Being a SAHM is probably the best thing EVER! I had no idea life could be this great. Judah is now almost 20 months and learning about 5 new words a day. I love that kid!! I couldn't imagine a better way to spend my days than with that guy (well, maybe with his dad too...that would be pretty great. But, alas, work calls Jared away to an 8-4 job that, thankfully, supports us all!!).
Here are a couple new pics of the cutie - one of him at a pumpkin patch for the first time and one of him in his Halloween costume. The fire pics are the view we had from the hill above our house...pretty crazy...
